Track edge control system
Initial situation
Our client in the packaging industry required a reliable solution for the automated guidance of web materials. When winding and unwinding packaging materials such as non-woven fabrics and films, precise and continuous web edge control is essential.
The challenge was to reliably detect the web and automatically track it, even when it deviated. At the same time, the system had to be robust, low-maintenance and flexible enough to be integrated into existing plant.
Objective
The aim was to develop a reliable and automated solution for the precise guidance of web materials such as non-woven fabrics and films. The system was designed to reliably detect various deviations, automatically track the material web and integrate flexibly into existing machinery and control systems.
At the same time, the focus was on a robust design, low maintenance requirements and gentle guidance of the sensitive web material.
Our solution
Our sensor-controlled web edge control system enables the precise and automated guidance of web materials. The system detects positive and negative deviations in the web and outputs the corresponding signals via 4–20 mA or 0–10 V.
Depending on requirements, the system can be fitted with a RIBA proportional controller or connected to an existing control system.
The fully enclosed sensor technology ensures reliable operation in industrial environments. An integrated torsion spring enables gentle guidance of the web, whilst the double ball bearing design ensures a durable and low-maintenance solution. Thanks to variable mounting options, the system can be flexibly adapted to the specific machine design.
