Compressed-air-powered hydraulic power unit DHPS
Initial situation
In the maintenance and servicing of aircraft, three-post jacks and trolley jacks, amongst other equipment, are used to safely lift and position aircraft. This requires high hydraulic forces to be generated reliably. In potentially explosive atmospheres, solutions are also required that do not rely on electrical drive components and are suitable for use in ATEX environments.
Objective
The aim was to develop a compact and reliable solution for generating high hydraulic pressures for lifting and maintenance equipment. The drive system is to be compressed-air-powered and enable safe operation even in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Our solution
The DRUMAG DHPS oscillating pump can generate hydraulic pressures of up to 800 bar from existing compressed air. DRUMAG develops a range of pump designs that are individually tailored to three-post lifts, car jacks, as well as the respective operating conditions and country-specific requirements.
The integrated automatic changeover system eliminates the need for additional valves. Once the required hydraulic pressure is reached, the pump stops automatically and the supply of compressed air is cut off.
This has resulted in compact, reliable and energy-efficient solutions for aircraft maintenance worldwide.
