Proportional pressure regulator without an external sensor
Initial situation
Our customer in the control engineering sector required a robust and reliable solution for piloting a pilot controller. The plan was to use a proportional pressure regulator as the master. A particular challenge was to feed back the actual value without having to use an additional external pressure sensor. At the same time, the size, cost and installation effort were to be kept to a minimum.
Objective
The aim was to develop a compact proportional pressure regulator capable of utilising the existing internal sensor for measuring the actual value. This was intended to enable reliable control whilst at the same time eliminating the need for an external sensor.
Our solution
We developed a RIBA proportional pressure regulator, type RPD220, with integrated pressure measurement, which utilises the internal sensor for the control task.
The actual value is transmitted back from the pilot regulator to the master via a pneumatic hose.
This made it possible to achieve the desired control structure without the need for an additional external sensor. The solution reduces the number of components required and enables a compact and cost-effective implementation.
