Oil brake cylinders work together with pneumatic cylinders to ensure an even feed and regulate the speed. An axial external force is applied to the piston rod, causing oil to flow through a throttle valve to pass from one chamber to the other. The almost constant volume flow of the oil absorbs and neutralises the speed fluctuations of the pneumatic cylinder under changing load conditions.
